The monograph "For All Time" - 150 Years of Sports in Montenegro, authored by the doyen of Montenegrin sports journalism, Branko Vujisić, was promoted tonight at the "Radosav Ljumović" Library in Podgorica.
In a packed hall, despite the fact that the World Cup was starting, the audience came to greet the commentator who, for 45 years, has brought the magic of the most beautiful game in the world to television audiences, and not only!
In addition to the author, the publisher Radomir Uljarević spoke at the promotion, as well as famous Montenegrin athletes whose names are included in "For All Time", Božidar -Bonja Ivanović and Miodrag-Mijo Perunović, who, along with Dejan Savićević, Dragomir - Migina Bečanović, Vlado Šćepanović, Dragan Adžić, etc., and the reviewers of the Monograph.
"Persistence is my strongest virtue. I don't give up, although I had doubts, it's difficult to write books of this kind. Ever since I came to Milorad Đurković with the now deceased Ranko Jovović, whose family I see here, we laid the foundations of television sports journalism. We collected huge documentation, books... and constantly carried scissors, made clippings, and my family apartment looked more like a warehouse of books and newspaper articles. All of this had to be reviewed, researched and other archives, including CANU, and contacted sports workers, federations, clubs... Yes, my biggest problem was the fear of making a mistake," explained Vujisić.
The monograph is, in fact, the largest encyclopedia of Montenegrin sports to date, through various forms of state organization, all the way back to the time of King Nikola.
"Time will tell whether we have done what we imagined, because there are many generations in the hall, which I am particularly pleased about because it is also an incentive to continue working to break away from oblivion great and significant results. There are also about 200 photographs, the criteria were results and medals, although one cannot be ignored, for example, one Tonko Miročević and his contribution, despite the fact that he does not have a major medal. And now it is increasingly easier to find information on the internet, but not from some distant time, and journalists will have a place to find data on deserving athletes, which they have nowhere else! It will be a kind of manual and it will be possible to give a real cross-section of the importance of our great athletes, whom, it seems to me - as a society, we do not appreciate enough," concluded Vujisić, emphasizing that the time he has as a pensioner, but also some of our largest associations - FSCG, KSCG, friends and the Royal Capital of Cetinje, helped him in the project.
The initiator of the project is the famous boxer Mijo Perunović.
"There have been many books, but this one is for all time. All those who have achieved the greatest results have found a place in it. Studiously and with effort, with a desire to be fair and not to make mistakes... That's what a journalist, commentator, and editor was like. Thank you for the book "For All Time". The monograph, or rather the encyclopedia, was written over a decade, with enormous work, effort, and desire," emphasized the European boxing champion.
Another boxing champion, WBC, Dejan Zlatičanin, was in the hall, and on June 11, the day of the book promotion, he had his name inscribed in America "For All Time".
The results of the oldest and first Montenegrin grandmaster, the first Minister of Sports in the history of Montenegro - Bonja Ivanović - are also for all time.
"The monograph is a true literary feat. Within the framework of numerous state arrangements, Montenegrin athletes played and performed with their hearts - we are traditionally athletes for camaraderie, respect, equality and we only admired those better than ourselves. Mijo was a "live fire" in the ring, with a monstrous result in poor conditions. All our sports and athletes did not have the right logistics, support, conditions, finances, preparations... We go alone, and there is a team of about ten people around the rivals. And you see exactly what you have to fight with. But, sport raises morale, self-confidence and especially the fact that you are there to burn for your country. Everything is different now, I remember that top chess players were professionals in medicine, engineering, Smyslov was even one of the world's leading opera singers... Today there is a telephone, analyses, external consultations. This book describes everything best, you could talk about it for 10 days, but my recommendation is - get it, read it", said Ivanović.
The preparation of the complicated monograph with a huge number of old photographs, processed successes of dozens of sports associations, dozens of clubs..., was helped by the experienced reviewer and publisher Radomir Uljarević.
"That monograph is an encyclopedia of sports written for all time. It contains everything the author has done for decades, only summarized, and Mijo contributed to convincing Branko to finally publish it and not wait for new top results. The monograph is an archive, useful to everyone in Montenegrin sports. With this work, Vujisić has run a marathon of 150 years. An incredible thing. He also found a place for athletes with more modest results, but an undoubted contribution to our sport. The book is a contribution to stopping oblivion," said Uljarević.
