High school students from Bijelo Polje excel in the group, will play against their peers from Chile in the round of 16 of the World Cup

Basketball players from the "Miloje Dobrašinović" High School from Bijelo Polje have advanced to the round of 16 of the World School Championship, which is being held on Zlatibor.

After victories over France (53:52) and Georgia (78:54), the students of Professor Predrag Femić also defeated the China-Macau national team (75:62) and with maximum efficiency won first place in Group C.

Their rival for a place among the eight best school teams in the world will be the Chilean team. The Bijelo Polje team, led by the brilliant Matija Furundžić, who scored 30 points against China-Macau, enters the knockout phase with maximum confidence and a desire for a new historic success.

At the same time, the very demanding second day of competition of the European 3x3 Basketball Championship for high school students ended in Belgrade, where our representatives in the men's and women's competitions played four games each in extremely strong groups.

In the men's competition, students from the "Golubovci" Secondary Mixed School from Zeta, after a mediocre performance on the first day, were defeated in the remaining two matches by the teams of North Macedonia (21:11) and Serbia 1 (21:8), so they are in fifth place in Group A with one win and three losses.

In the last round, the Montenegrin basketball team will play a decisive match against Croatia to advance to the knockout stage of the competition. The calculation is clear – a win will bring a place among the top eight teams, while a loss will lead to a fight for a place from eighth to 12th place.

Before this important duel, Professor Stefan Varagić emphasized that the team is ready to welcome the challenge.

"I expect the boys to give their all on the field. We believe in victory and celebration, which would already be a huge and historic success for SMŠ "Golubovci", said professor Stefan Varagić.

In the women's competition, the students of the Podgorica "Slobodan Škerović" Gymnasium suffered two defeats on the second day - first in a "tough" match with few points against Bulgaria (4:8), and then against Croatia 2 (6:12). This outcome placed Montenegro in fifth place in Group A, so regardless of the outcome of the final round, they will play in the play-offs for eighth to 12th place in the rest of the championship.
