Montenegro won its third medal in Tirana. Judoka Aleksandar Tomić won a bronze medal in the 100-kilogram category at the European University Martial Arts Championships.

The student of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Montenegro celebrated in the match for third place against the Portuguese Danijela Mazjar from the University of Lisbon. The match was decided in a "golden score" with Aleksandar winning by yuko.

Previously, Aleksandar defeated Portugal's Max Mazjar in the first round, only to be defeated by Netherlands' Leonhard Fransens in the second. However, our competitor was successful in the repechage, and with victories over Hungary's Bálint Mihalj and Germany's Moritz Augustin, he reached the fight for the bronze medal.

"I am very satisfied with the performance and the result we achieved at this competition. Aleksandar recorded four wins and one loss. I am especially pleased that the complete preparations for this championship took place in our home club, Judo Club Akademik. With quality work and a good atmosphere in the club, we managed to adequately prepare and respond to the challenge brought by strong competition. The result of such work is this medal in Tirana, which will be an additional incentive for us to continue even stronger, with the aim of achieving even better results in the coming period and to continue to represent Montenegro and Judo Club Akademik in the best possible way. I would also like to thank the Student Sports Association of Montenegro, which enabled us to be part of this strong competition," said coach Nikola Gušić immediately after the end of the competition.

With the performance of Aleksandar Tomić, the competition at the European University Championships in Martial Arts for Montenegrin athletes has ended. As a reminder, on Friday, Andrea Berišaj (UDG) won silver medals in the taekwondo competition in the up to 67 kg category and Anđela Berišaj (UDG) in the over 73 kg category.

Along with congratulations to the medal winners, the Student Sports Federation of Montenegro would like to thank all our athletes and coaches for representing our country worthily in Tirana.
