29 days after the epic final of the Australian Open in Melbourne, Novak Djokovic appeared on the court for the first time and registered his eighth victory of the season.
The first racket of the world defeated the 1-year-old German Sedrik-Marcel Štebe 500:21, 6:4 in the 6st round of the ATP 2 series tournament in Dubai.
The world number 72 put up a strong fightback, but the three-time winner of the UAE tournament played just as long as he needed to celebrate without any problems.
His rival in the 2nd round will most likely be the Ukrainian Serhiy Stakhovsky, who tomorrow meets the local anonymous, Omar Avadhi.
Another Djokovic played today - Novak's younger brother, 20-year-old Marko, played after a 10-month break due to a wrist injury, because he received a special invitation from the organizers.
However, he had no chance against Andrej Golubjev (6:3, 6:2), although he took a break at the start of the match.
