The vice-president of the German Tennis Association (DTB) and famous tennis coach Dirk Hordorf claims that he has reliable information about how all tournaments on grass, including Wimbledon, will be canceled and that the season could only resume in the fall.
Speaking in a podcast on the specialized portal tennisnet.com, Hordorf stated that he "received the news that it is fairly certain that there will be no grass part of the season", but did not provide any additional details.
At the moment, due to the pandemic caused by the coronavirus, the suspension of all tennis tournaments is in effect until June 7, which means that after the American spring on hard surfaces, the spring part of playing on clay surfaces on European soil has also been lost.
From June 8, tournaments on a grass surface should start, and the tournament in Wimbledon is scheduled from June 29 to July 12.
However, Hordorf is very skeptical about continuing this season.
"I would be very happy if it started playing again in October," he said.
