Swiss tennis player Roger Federer will not go to the Olympic Games.
Federer announced that he will not go to Tokyo due to a knee injury.
"During the grass season, unfortunately I experienced a small problem with my knee and I have to withdraw from the Tokyo Olympics. I am extremely disappointed, because it has always been an honor to represent my country. I have started the recovery process and hope to be back competing later this summer. I wish the entire Swiss team the best of luck, I'll be rooting for you," said Federer.
Last week, Federer participated in Wimbledon, and the competition ended in the quarterfinals with a loss to Hubert Hurkač.
In his career, Federer participated in the Olympic Games four times. He won gold in doubles with Sten Wawrinka in 2008 in Beijing, while four years later he won silver in singles in London.
The Olympic Games are scheduled from July 23 to August 8.
