The Norwegian Kasper Rud won the ATP trophy in the Swedish Bastad, as he was beaten by the Argentine Federico Coria in the final (6:3, 6:3).
For the 22-year-old Norwegian, that trophy had a special meaning, because his father Christian lost the final of that tournament in 1995.
"We've been joking about it for a long time. I've probably been asked a thousand times - are you going to surpass your father? When are you going to do this and what your father achieved? Now it seems to me that I've surpassed him in everything, maybe a few more things, but I'm farting. Now our family can finally take this trophy home. It's a special feeling - said Rud after the second trophy in his career and his return to 14th place in the world.
Starting tomorrow, Spaniard Pablo Karenjo Busta will be in 11th place, who won against Filip Krajinović in the Hamburg final (6:2, 6:4).
It is Busta's sixth trophy, but the first in the 500 series and the biggest in his career. The Serbian lost his fourth final and the 29-year-old tennis player struggled to hold back tears during the award ceremony. At the tournament, he eliminated the first favorite, the Greek Tsitsipas, but did not repeat the game in the final.
