All athletes who want to compete in France must be vaccinated against the coronavirus, the Assembly of this country decided, which changed the law, so the PCR test is no longer sufficient to enter the facilities.
Professional athletes will have to be vaccinated against the coronavirus in order to participate in sports competitions, including Roland Garros, which begins in Paris on May 22. This means that at the moment Novak Djokovic cannot defend his title in Paris, because he has not been vaccinated.
"The rule is simple, the vaccine will be necessary as soon as the law passes the procedure in places that are already subject to health protocols. This will apply to everyone, both athletes and spectators. As for Roland Garros, it is in May and until then the situation may change and we hope it will be more favorable. We will see, but it is clear that there is no medical exemption," said the Ministry of Sports.
French Sports Minister Roxana Marasineanu said a few days ago that Djokovic will be able to defend his title in the French capital, but that decision has now been changed.
Djokovic had to leave Australia yesterday after the Federal Court upheld the decision of Immigration Minister Alex Hawke to cancel his visa, which means that he will not be able to set foot on the continent where he had the most success in his career for three years.
