Young Spanish star Carlos Alcaras reached the third round of the Australian Open by defeating Serbian tennis player Dušan Lajović 6:2, 6:1, 7:5.
The Spanish tennis player made two breaks in the first two sets, which was enough for 2:0 in the sets.
Lajović reached the first break in the third set, in the eighth game, but Alkaras responded in the next game.
By the end of the match, the Spaniard made another break in the 11th game, and then he used the second match point on his serve. In the third round of the Australian Open, Alkaras will play against the seventh-ranked tennis player in the world, Italian Matteo Berretini, who eliminated American Stefan Kozlov 3:1.
Miomir Kecmanović, who was supposed to play Novak Djokovic at the start, entered the third round.
Kecmanović defeated the American Tommy Polo with 7:6, 7:5, 7:6.
Kecmanović, the 77th ranked tennis player in the world, defeated the 41st player on the ATP list in two hours and 58 minutes.
