The eighth tennis player in the world, Kasper Rud, qualified for the Roland Garros final tonight, after defeating the Croatian player Marin Čilić in Paris with 3:6, 6:4, 6:2, 6:2.
The Norwegian player reached his first Grand Slam final and victory over the 23rd player in the world in two hours and 55 minutes.
Čilić won the first set with two breaks. The second set belonged to the 23-year-old Norwegian player, after he broke in the third game.
In the next set, Rud breaks in the first and third games, and in the eighth game he uses the third set point on his serve.
The third set was interrupted for a few minutes, as a girl, an activist in the fight against climate change, tied herself to the net.
In the continuation, Rud kept his good game and with two breaks he solved the question of the winner.
His opponent in Sunday's final at the Paris Grand Slam is world number five Rafael Nadal.
The Spaniard reached the final earlier today, after the third player on the ATP list, Alexander Zverev, surrendered the match to him due to a wrist injury.
In the final, Nadal is fighting for his 22nd Grand Slam title and 14th on Paris clay. Rud became the first Norwegian Grand Slam finalist in singles competition.
