After Rotterdam, Doha and Dubai, Danil Medvedev won another tournament in 2023, this time from the Masters series - the Russian tennis player beat Janik Siner 2:0 (7:5, 6:3) in the Miami final tonight.
Medvedev won the tournament in Miami for the first time in his career tonight and also became the 20th tennis player to lift the trophy at this tournament.
The Russian reached his fifth Masters trophy in Miami - previously he was the best in Cincinnati (2019), Shanghai (2019), Paris (2020) and Toronto (2021).
Medvedev played his fifth final in 2023, and in the trophy matches he only lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the Indian Wells final. In Rotterdam, like tonight, he defeated Siner, in Doha Andy Murray, and in Dubai Andrei Rublev.
The Russian is playing phenomenally in 2023, and in total, so far, he has played 33 matches, won 30, and lost only three. In addition to Alcaraz in the final of Indian Wells, he lost to Novak Djokovic in the semifinals of Adelaide and to Sebastian Korda in the round of XNUMX of the Australian Open.
In the first set, the Italian was the first to reach the break, leading 3:2, but in the next game, Medvedev fought back and equalized.
Then, until the 12th game, it was calm, there were no break points, and then in that game, the Russian took advantage of the break, that is, the set ball and took the lead 1:0.
Medvedev played excellently and already at the start of the second set he broke and took a 2:0 lead. Siner then took away the rival's serve, reducing it to 2:1, but in the next game he had to face another break.
After a 3:1 lead, Medvedev controlled the situation and won a new title in 2023.
