One of the leaders of the new tennis wave, Holger Rune, reached the quarterfinals of Roland Garros for the second time in a row.
The Dane, who recently celebrated his 20th birthday, defeated the Argentinian Fransisko Serundola after four hours - 7:6, 3:6, 6:4, 1:6, 7:6 (10:7).
Rune slept through the fourth set, but in the fifth he had a chance to end the match earlier.
Namely, in the ninth game he made a break, served for the win, but Serundolo pulled away and turned it around to 6:5.
The Argentinian also had an advantage in the super tie-break, up to 7:6, but then Rune tied four points and won the decisive game 10:7.
In a repeat of last year's quarter-finals, the young Dane will meet Kasper Rud, who defeated Nicholas Hari 3:0.
The Norwegian won 3:1 last year, which was his fourth consecutive victory in mutual duels, and Rune defeated him for the first time 16 days ago in the semi-finals of the Masters in Rome.
