One break by Hubert Hurkač, who arrived at the final tournament after an injury to Stefanos Tsitsipas, meant that Novak Djokovic did not hold his fate in his hands when it comes to placing in the semi-finals of the final Masters in Turin.
The number one tennis player in the world won the last match in the group (7:6, 4:6, 6:1), but he lost a set due to which he has to cheer for Janik Siner in tonight's match against Holger Rune.
Djokovic will only be among the top four if the Italian triumphs, a victory for the Dane would mean that he, along with Siner, will be fighting for the trophy.
The Serbian ace had problems with the Pole's serve, but in the tie-break of the first set he lost only one point and announced his triumph.
In the second, however, he faltered - he lost his serve for the advantage of his opponent 3:2, and then at 4:3 he missed two break chances to return to the set.
The decisive part of the game was practically of a recreational nature, given that Djokovic knew that the decision would be decided in the second match, but routinely - with two breaks - reached the second triumph.
