Janik Siner played the group perfectly at the final Masters in Turin and helped Novak Djokovic reach the semi-finals.
Tonight, the Italian defeated Holger Rune in a match that didn't mean much to him, because he had already secured a place, but he showed that he is currently in top form.
He outplayed the Dane in three sets (6:2, 5:7, 6:4) and brought good news to the world's number one player twenty minutes before midnight.
Siner opened a spectacular duel with Rune with two breaks and quickly took a 4:0 lead, so the first set lasted just over half an hour.
The second, however, was brilliant - he was broken in the 12th game when Rune broke serve from the home crowd's favorite to secure the deciding set.
In it, Siner mostly threatened the opponent's serve, and the difference was made in the ninth game when the Italian tennis player used the third break chance and took the lead 5:4.
With two forehands, he got himself into trouble in the next game, but he knew how to get out and bring the match to an end...
