Alexey Popirin scored her first point today, defeating Ota Virtanen (7:6, 6:2), and Alex de Minaur finished the job with a victory over Emil Rusuvuori (6:4, 6:3).
For Australia, it is the 49th place in the Davis Cup final, the second in a row after losing to Canada last year. She won the last title back in 2003.
On Sunday, Australia will play in the final with the better team from the duel between Serbia and Italy, which is tomorrow.
