Spanish tennis player Carlos Alkaras said today that together with other tennis players, he will try to prevent Novak Djokovic from dominating world tennis next season as well.
"Djokovic said he is ready to win four Grand Slams and the Olympic gold, but we are here to stop him," Alcaras said in Mexico, where he is participating in an exhibition event today.
Alkaras won six tournaments this season, including Wimbledon, winning against Djokovic in the final, but he achieved disappointing results in the second part of the season, as he did not win a single title after the London Grand Slam.
"The first part of the season was spectacular, but after Wimbledon I had a negative period. I think it's normal and you should learn from such situations," said the 20-year-old tennis player.
He told his critics to get their TVs ready and watch him in 2024 as it will be a year "full of energy".
"We will train and fight so that year will be at the same level or even better than this year," added Alkaras.
Alkaras, who has won 12 titles to date, said he hasn't changed since breaking onto the world stage.
"I'm still the same guy, becoming famous hasn't changed my personality or the kind of person I am, even with all the expectations of people comparing me to Federer or Rafa. I'm trying to put those comments aside and concentrate on my own journey." , he stated.
In the exhibition match, Alkaras will play against the American Tommy Paul, and before them, the Danish Karolina Wozniacki and the Greek Maria Sakari will take the court.
