Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev said that during his career he had more success in duels against Novak Djokovic than against Rafael Nadal.
So far, Medvedev has played against the Spanish tennis player six times and won only once, in the semi-finals of the final ATP tournament in 2020, while he played against the Serbian tennis player 15 times and won five matches.
"Novak, in all the seasons he played, won a lot of matches and didn't lose a lot. It's very difficult to beat him. In fact, against Rafa, maybe in a way I had less success than against Novak," Medvedev said, reported are the British media.
Nadal will return to competitions in January after a one-year break, and Mevedev said that the duel against Nadal will be a big challenge for him.
He added that he does not know what form the winner of the 22nd Grand Slam title is in, but that his return is "great for tennis".
"We had a few close matches where I thought I could win, but in the end he was ahead. The match against him will be a big challenge. No one knows his form and how he will handle everything. But from what I saw, he seems to be doing well and that's great for tennis," added Medvedev, the 2021 US Open winner.
