Former American tennis player Andre Agassi said today that Novak Djokovic, who went to Melbourne for his 25th Grand Slam trophy and 11th trophy at the Australian Open, is undoubtedly the greatest player of all time, stressing that the numbers don't lie.
"There's a lot of ways to look at it, but when you look at it on paper, you can't argue with what he's achieved," Agassi said in an interview with The Australian published today.
"The number of victories, head-to-head duels, titles, first place at the end of the year, weeks spent in first place... all these statistics," added the 53-year-old American, who is Djokovic's former coach.
The eight-time Grand Slam champion and former number one tennis player in the world stated that Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal brought a lot to tennis.
"When I look at what someone brings to the sport, Djokovic brought a lot, without a doubt. Then you look at Roger, who brought elegance, class and the way he played, and then Nadal and his intensity... All those guys gave another dimension to tennis Agassi said.
"But when we look at what's on paper - we can't dispute what Novak did," said the American, who is following the Australian Open in Melbourne this year.
