In the first competitive match of the new season, Karlo Alcaraz won - today the Spanish tennis player defeated Richard Gasquet 3:0 (7:6, 6:1, 6:2) in the first round of the Australian Open.
The French veteran parried only in the first set, which was the most interesting and lasted longer than the second and third together.
Alkaras and Gaske missed break points at the start, and then in the fifth and seventh games, the Spanish tennis player threatened his rival, who managed to pull away and bring the set into a tiebreak.
In the tie-break, Gaske led 5:4, and then the second tennis player on the ATP list won three points in a row and reached the lead in sets.
There was no more drama after that. Alkaras reached 3:0 in the second set, then took a break for 5:1, and then doubled the advantage in sets.
In the last set, Alkaras won 4:0 and easily won.
In the second round, Alcaraz will play against the Italian tennis player, Lorenzo Sonego.
