The world's best tennis player, Novak Djokovic, defeated Adrian Manarino (3:0) today and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.
Djokovic played the best match of the tournament in Melbourne, won 6:0, 6:0, 6:3 and registered his 32nd victory in a row at the first Grand Slam.
"The tension in the third set was high. I felt like it was almost good to give him the game, just to reset myself. I was glad to get rid of it and then I could focus on what I needed to do to finish the match. I didn't want to give him anything in the first two sets. I think I had 15 or more ace serves. A good game against an always difficult opponent. An unusual player, he always makes you give your maximum," Djokovic said after the match.
He is happy with his form in Melbourne.
"The last two matches were far better than the first two. It's not the first time I've started slow and progressed as the tournament went on. I'm excited for the second week. The opponents are better ranked. There are no easy matches. Also, the recovery is going in the right direction. Day after day, everything is going in the right direction."
In the next round, Djokovic will play against Fric, who eliminated Tsitsipas.
"Taylor has a very penetrating, strong serve. Solid, straight backhand. I think he suits these conditions. The ball is slower, he has time to set up to play penetrating. I have a great record with him, the last time I beat him was in the quarterfinals of the US Open. "I know what I have to do. If I am at my level, I think I have a very good chance to win," Djokovic concluded.
