Romanian tennis player Simona Halep will appear before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne on Wednesday, regarding the appeal against her four-year suspension due to doping.
"It is not possible to give an indication of when the final decision will be made," according to today's CAS statement.
In September, the International Tennis Integrity Agency suspended the two-time Grand Slam champion for four years for two separate anti-doping violations.
The suspension will last until October 2026, when the Romanian tennis player will be 35 years old.
At the US Open in 2022, Halep tested positive for a banned substance that stimulates the production of red blood cells, and then last May she was charged with irregularities in her biological passport. She denied any wrongdoing and said she intended to clear the stain from her name.
In 2018, Halep won the title at Roland Garros, and a year later at Wimbledon, and is the most famous tennis player to fail a doping test since Maria Sharapova in 2016.
The Romanian won 24 singles titles and earned more than $40 million in tournament prize money. She was first on the WTA list in 2017 and 2018.
