Australian tennis player Alex de Minor reached the quarterfinals of the Masters in Monte Carlo today after defeating compatriot Alexey Popirin 6:3, 6:4.
The currently 11th tennis player in the world won against the 46th on the ATP list after an hour and 15 minutes of play.
In the first set, De Minor took away his rival's serve twice, then served for the match at 5:3 in the second, but Popirin returned the break and reduced it to 5:4. However, Popirin only extended the match in a few minutes, as De Minor made another break in the next game and won a place in the quarterfinals.
The Australian will play in the Monte Carlo quarterfinals against the better of the match Novak Djokovic - Lorenzo Muzetti.
