The second tennis player in the world, Belarusian Arina Sabalenka, qualified for the second round of Roland Garros today after defeating Russian Erika Andreyeva 6:1, 6:2.
Sabalenka won the first set after 33 minutes of play, conceding only one game to the 19-year-old Russian. The tennis players exchanged a break at the beginning of the second set, before the Belarusian made two more breaks to win and advance to the second round.
In the second round of Roland Garros, the Belarusian will play against the better of the duel between Irene Burillo Escoriuel and Mojuka Uchidzim.
In the second round of the second Grand Slam tournament of the season, the Croatian Petra Martić, who was better than the French Kristina Mladenović with 6:4, 6:4, as well as the Russian Darija Kasatkina, who won against the Polish Magdalena Frenh with 7:5 6:1.
Faster than the rain, which disrupts the program at Roland Garros all day, was the Dutchwoman Aranča Rus, who defeated the German Andjelik Kerber 6:4, 6:3.
In the men's part of the tournament, Norwegian Kasper Rud and Australian Alex de Minor secured their place in the second round.
Rud, the seventh tennis player in the world, was better than the Brazilian Felipe Meligeni Alves with 6:3, 6:4, 6:3, while De Minor beat the American Alex Michelson with 6:1, 6:0, 6:2.
