Italian tennis player Janik Siner defeated Corentano Mute tonight and advanced to the quarterfinals of Roland Garros.
Siner celebrated after a reversal and four sets - 2:6, 6:3, 6:2, 6:1.
Mute played a phenomenal first set. The local tennis player served brilliantly, made three breaks, took a 5:0 lead and quickly took the lead in sets.
The Frenchman started the second set very well - he broke, took a 1:0 lead, and then stopped. Siner woke up, started to play much better, immediately returned the break and equalized, and in the sixth game once again took away the rival's serve and reached 1:1 in sets.
In the third set, the current champion of the Australian Open took a 2:0 lead, at the end of the third set he took another break and reversed the result.
It was then clear that there would be no surprises in Paris, and the fourth set was just a formality - Siner immediately broke, took a 2:0 lead and kept the lead until the end.
Siner will play in the quarterfinals against the Bulgarian tennis player, Grigor Dimitrov, who tonight defeated the Polish Hubert Hurkač - 3:0 (7:6, 6:4, 7:6).
Dimitrov, the 10th player on the ATP list, reached victory after two hours and 55 minutes.
Both players were safe on their serve in the first set and the winner was decided in a tie-break, in which Dimitrov won 7:5.
Dimitrov reached a two-set lead thanks to a break in the seventh game of the second set.
In the third set, one break was seen on both sides and it was again decided by a tie-break, in which Dimitrov won 7:3.
