Norwegian tennis player Kasper Rud defeated Taylor Fritz last night and advanced to the quarterfinals of Roland Garros.
The seventh tennis player in the world celebrated after four sets - 7:6, 3:6, 6:4, 6:2.
Rud immediately broke in the first set and took a 2:0 lead, but Fritz responded and equalized (2:2). Then, until the end of the first set, there were no more breaks, so in the tie-break, the Norwegian reached the lead in sets.
Fritz's answer came in the second set - the American broke, took a 2:0 lead, kept the lead until the end and equalized.
Fritz was the first to break even in the third set. But, he failed to preserve the advantage - Rud quickly returned to the game, and then took a 4:2 lead, then realized the fourth set point and reached a new advantage.
In the fourth set, the Norwegian was convincing. He tied four games and advanced to the next stage, where he will play against Novak Djokovic.
And Alexander Zverev also made it to the quarterfinals, eliminating Holger Rune after five sets - 4:6, 6:1, 5:7, 7:6, 6:2.
Thanks to a break in the fifth game, the Dane took the lead in the sets, and in the second, Zverev made two breaks, took a 4:0 lead and equalized.
At the start of the third set, Rune reached 2:0, but Zverev equalized (2:2), and in the 12th game, the Dane made another break and once again took the lead in the sets.
In the fourth set, two breaks were seen on both sides, and then it was a tie-break in which Zverev managed to tie the game. Then, in the fifth set, the German eliminated all dilemmas with two breaks and advanced to the next stage.
Zverev will play against De Minor in the quarterfinals.
