British tennis player Emma Radukanu refused a special invitation to participate in the Olympic Games, and two-time Olympic gold medalist Andy Murray accepted the invitation and will participate in the Games in Paris.
Radukanu, who is recovering from ankle and wrist operations, is ranked too low on the WTA list to qualify without a special invitation to the Olympics, the BBC reported.
Murray received a special invitation intended for former winners of the Grand Slam tournament, and is a gold medalist in London 2012 and Rio 2016.
"I've had conversations with Emma and she's aware of how much it would mean to her to be part of the British Olympic team, but she feels it's not the right time. She has a lot of Olympic tournaments ahead of her," said GB Olympic Tennis Team boss Ian Bates.
The Olympic tennis tournament is scheduled from July 27 to August 4.
