The Spanish tennis player, Carlos Alcaraz, defeated the Frenchman, Igo Umber today, and reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon.
The current champion won after four sets - 6:3, 6:4, 1:6, 7:5.
In the fifth game of the first set, Alkaras made a break, took a 3:2 lead, and then by the end of that part of the game he once again took away his rival's serve.
One break was enough for the young Spaniard in the second set, and he reached it in the tenth game, when he took a 2:0 lead.
In the third set, there was a drop in the game of Alkaras, which Umber took advantage of, played well in that part of the game, and reduced it to 2:1 in sets.
However, Alkaras finished the job of advancing to the next stage in the fourth set, which was decided in the 11th game when the Spaniard made another break, for placement in the top eight.
Alkaras will play the winner of the match between Bautista-Agut and Pol in the next round.
And the best tennis player in the world, Janik Siner, made it to the quarterfinals, after defeating Ben Shelton in three sets - 6:2, 6:4, 7:6.
Siner easily won the first set in his favor and took the lead after tying four games.
In the second set, one break was enough for the Italian, which he reached at the start of the set.
It was exciting in the third set - Shelton led 4:1, and Siner managed to equalize (4:4). Then the set went to a tie-break in which Shelton missed three set points, and Siner used the second match point to advance to the quarterfinals, where he will play against Medvedev.
Bulgarian tennis player Grigir Dimitrov handed Medvedev the match due to injury.
