After three semi-finals, it was time for the first title in Cincinnati - Belarusian tennis player Arina Sabalenka defeated American Jessica Pegula 2:0 in the final last night and won the sixth Masters title in her career.
The second female tennis player in the world dominantly won a new title - she did not lose a set against Koćareto, Svitolina, Samsonova, Sfjontek and Pegula.
"I am happy. I finally managed to win the title at the Masters in Cincinnati. I played good tennis, not the best. From match to match I felt better. I hope that I will be even better at the US Open," said Sabalenka after winning the title .
In the semi-finals, Sabalenka announced her attack on the title in Cincinnati by defeating the world's number one tennis player, Igo Sfjontek.
"I felt that I was playing well. I was concentrated, I fought for every point and I managed to win every match after two sets," said Sabalenka.
Next comes the last Grand Slam of the season - the US Open. Sabalenka lost to Koko Goff in the final last year, this year she will try to take a step further and win the third Grand Slam title in her career, since she was the best at the Australian Open twice.
Sabalenka won her second title this year in Cincinnati, having previously won the trophy at the Australian Open.
"I want to thank my team. We went through a lot, but we didn't stop working. We progressed together and I'm grateful to be working with them," said Sabalenka.
