The legendary tennis player Rafael Nadal has announced that he has given up participation in the Laver Cup.
The tournament takes place from September 20 to 24 and pits the European team against the rest of the world.
"I'm very disappointed that I can't play in the Laver Cup in Berlin next week. It's a team competition and to really help Team Europe I have to do what's best for them and at the moment there are other players who can help them more." , Nadal said.
The tournament was launched in 2017 at the initiative of Roger Federer, and the organizers announced that Nadal's replacement will be announced soon.
The next event at which Nadal should appear is an exhibition tournament in Saudi Arabia in October.
