Canadian Denis Šapovalov is in the finals of the ATP tournament in Belgrade, as he easily defeated Iržij Lehečka in two sets - 6:2, 6:1.
Shapovalov, the 78th player in the ATP rating, won the finals of an ATP tournament for the first time since October 2022, and won six matches in a row (he played cavifications in Belgrade) for the first time since January 2022.
He had no respect for the birthday boy, since Lehečka, 31st on the ATP list, celebrated his 23rd birthday today
The Canadian will play for the title tomorrow against the better of the domestic tensers, Hamad Međedović or Laslo Đere.
The tournament in Belgrade brings 250 ATP points, and the prize fund is 579.000 euros.
