Spanish tennis player Karlos Alkaras defeated the eighth player of the world, Russian Andrej Rubljev, after two sets, 6:3, 7:6, in the second round of the final ATP Masters in Turin and kept his chances of reaching the semi-finals.
The third tennis player in the world won after one hour and 36 minutes.
In the seventh and ninth games of the first set, he took Rubljov's serve and took the lead in the match.
In the first set, the tennis players won games on their serves and a tie-break was played, which Alkaras won 10:8 after the second match point. Rublev did not use the set ball when leading 6:5.
It was uncertain whether Alkaras would play due to illness, which affected his performance in the first round, losing to Norway's Kasper Rud in two sets.
He still has a chance to reach the semi-finals, and in the third round on Friday he will play against Alexander Zverev from Germany.
Tonight, in the second round of the "John Newcombe" Group, Zverev plays against Rudo, in a duel between tennis players who each have a win at the start of the competition.
