World number three Coco Gauff advanced to the third round of the Australian Open today, after defeating British player Jodie Burridge 6-3, 7-5 in Melbourne.
The American player won over the 173rd ranked tennis player in the world in an hour and 29 minutes.
The first set saw three breaks, two of which were made by the 20-year-old Goff.
Goff broke her opponent's serve at the start of the second set, but Burridge responded with two breaks and took a 3:5 lead.
This was followed by a series of four consecutive games for the American tennis player, who will play against 30th seed Canadian Leila Fernandes in the third round.
Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (32nd on the WTA list) also advanced to the third round, defeating compatriot Anastasia Potapova (36th) 7:6 (2), 2:6, 6:2.
In the third round, Pavlyuchenkova plays against German Laura Siegemund (97th on the WTA list), who was better than the fifth-ranked tennis player in the world and last year's Australian Open finalist, China's Qinwen Zhen, 7:6 (3), 6:3.
The 18th ranked tennis player in the world, Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, also reached the third round, defeating German player Jula Niemeyer (93rd on the WTA list) 6:3, 6:0.
In the next round, Kostyuk awaits the winner of the match between 11th seed Paula Badosa of Spain and home player Talia Gibson.
