World number two Iga Švjontek advanced to the third round of the Australian Open after defeating Slovakian player Rebekah Šramková 6:0, 6:2.
The Polish player achieved victory over the 49th ranked tennis player in the world in exactly an hour of play.
Swiontek achieved her best result at the first Grand Slam tournament of the season in 2022, when she reached the semifinals.
She will next play against world number 61 Emma Radukan, who won the US Open title in 2021.
Radukana reached the third round by defeating American tennis player Amanda Anisimova (35th on the WTA list) 6:3, 7:5.
The third round was also secured by the seventh-ranked tennis player in the world, Kazakhstani Elena Rybakina, defeating American player Iva Jović (191st on the WTA list) 6:0, 6:3.
Rybakina, who played in the Australian Open final in 2023, will face 32nd seeded Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska in the third round, who defeated Montenegrin player Danka Kovinić (1289th on the WTA list) 6:0, 6:1.
Also advancing to the third round of the Australian Open were world number eight Emma Navarro from the United States, 10th-ranked player on the WTA list Russian Daria Kasatkina, Brazilian Beatriz Hadad Maya (17th on the WTA list), Kazakh Yulia Putintseva (23rd), Tunisian Ons Jabir (39th) and German tennis player Eva Lis (128th).
