Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic has hinted that he may end his career before the next Roland Garros. Djokovic lost to Janik Siner (3:0) in the semifinals of the second Grand Slam yesterday, and after the match he said that he may have played his last match in this tournament.
"Maybe this is my last match here. I don't know. That's why I'm emotional. If this was my last match at Roland Garros, it was wonderful in terms of atmosphere," Djokovic said.
The Serbian tennis player then clarified his statement.
"I don't feel like this could be my last match for a long time. I just don't know what tomorrow brings. I'll just keep going, so to speak. Wimbledon is next, my favorite tournament since childhood. I'll do everything I can to prepare."
Djokovic spoke about where he has the best chance of winning his 25th Grand Slam.
"My best chances for a slam are at Wimbledon or Australia, faster surfaces. I'm proud of the effort I put in at Roland Garros. I wasn't in great shape. Siner was too good for me. I had a chance to win the third set, I missed a forehand on a set point. Those are the guys, Siner and Alcaraz, who put you under pressure," explained Djokovic.
When asked to clarify his statement about the last match, Novak said.
"I said it might be my last match, not that it is. We'll see what happens in 12 months," Djokovic concluded.
