The Montenegrin women's tennis team had a notable performance at the third group tournament of the Billie Jean King Cup, which was held in Moldova.
Our tennis players finished the tournament in seventh place.
In the decisive match against Andorra, our players won 2:1.
Petra Mirković surrendered the match to Žuda Kartana Alani in the second set with the score 2:6, 0:1, and was tied by Tea Nikčević, who dominantly defeated Laura Pihel - 6:1, 6:0.
The decisive point for Montenegro was won in doubles, where Tea Nikčević and Iva Lakić defeated the pair of Alana/Pihel - 6:0, 6:4.
"The team led by coach Miloš Karadžić showed fighting spirit, quality and team spirit throughout the competition. Although they encountered resistance from stronger opponents in some matches, the Montenegrin tennis players left a positive impression and showed the potential for greater achievements in the coming seasons," the Tennis Association of Montenegro said.
