The tennis season is not over yet, but the race for the year-end leader position is over, so Carlos Alcaraz will enter 2026 in first place.
Janik Siner was in the running for first place for a long time, and he congratulated Alkaras on this achievement.
"If I had to choose who would be number one and it wasn't me, I would always choose him. I would be disingenuous if I said I was happy for him, but I think he fully deserves the number one spot in the world," Siner said.
Alcaraz won eight titles this year, including two Grand Slams - Roland Garros and the US Open.
"He plays very aggressively, in Turin he beat all three of his opponents so far. Even though he was under a lot of pressure, he played great. He also has a great coach and he works very hard," said Siner.
Siner took first place after winning the Paris Masters title, but did not hold onto the leading position.
"For me, this is a great motivation for next year. I will work very hard, but I want to repeat it once again. Carlos deserves the number 1. Not only because of how he played this season but also the previous two. Always at a high level.
The Italian will play against Alex de Minor in the semifinals of the final Masters today, whom he defeated in all 12 matches.
"Alex made it to the semifinals even though he was in a difficult situation. It will be a very tough duel," concluded Siner.
