The breakup of Carlos Alcaraz and Juan Carlos Ferrer's partnership is still a hot topic in the tennis world. Alcaraz announced about ten days ago that he had split with Ferrer, who later spoke out and said that the breakup was not about money, and that he had given his soul to Alcaraz.
And former tennis player Marion Bartoli also spoke about all of this, stating that she was very worried.
"I'm very worried because Carlos has incredible qualities. However, he needs a very good structure around him, otherwise he could leave tennis, like Bjorn Borg, at the age of 25. We have a genius in front of us, so we don't want that to happen. We want him to continue playing for many, many more years," Bartoli said in an interview with RMC Sport.
Alkaras will have to form a new coaching staff as soon as possible.
"Alcaraz will now enter a delicate phase. Without Ferrer, he will have to form a stable coaching staff as soon as possible. The next six months will be a big test. There will be many people circulating around him, everyone will want to train a genius," said Bartoli.
The Frenchwoman believes that the breakup occurred because Alkaras often played in exhibition tournaments.
"Due to the exhibitions this fall, Alcaraz came to the Masters in Paris in bad shape and lost immediately. Then he withdrew from the Davis Cup. The tournament planning is not good and Ferrero was against it. The recovery period after major competitions is very important, not rushing to exhibitions. While Carlos still needs to get used to the new working conditions, Janik is training peacefully in Dubai and continues to improve. Alcaraz now needs to have an excellent professional staff in order to receive the right advice. Just remember how Ferrero spoke to him between each point. Now he needs to get used to the new situation," Bartoli concluded.
