Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic announced last night that he has completely withdrawn from the Professional Tennis Players Association, which he founded together with Canadian Vasek Pospisil.
"After careful consideration, I have made the decision to withdraw completely from the Professional Tennis Players Association. This decision comes after continued concerns regarding transparency, governance and the way my voice and image have been represented," Djokovic said on social media platform X.
One of the greatest tennis players of all time said he was proud of the vision they had when they founded the association, in Canada in 2021, to give players a stronger and independent voice.
"But it became clear that my values and approach were no longer aligned with the direction the organization was currently taking," he stated.
Djokovic added that he will continue to focus on tennis, family and contributing to the sport in ways that reflect his principles and integrity.
"I wish the players and everyone involved all the best as they move forward, but for me this chapter is now closed," Djokovic said.
