The Polish team lost the Juanjted Cup final to the United States last year, and to Germany the year before, but Iga Sfjontek survived to lift the important trophy - her team beat Switzerland in the final 2:1.
The world number two lost her first match, as Belinda Benčić was better (6:3, 0:6, 3:6), her first win over a top 2 player since 2019.
However, Hubert Hurkač, after a great fight, equalized by defeating veteran Sten Wawrinka, for whom this is his last playing season (6:3, 3:6, 6:3), and the cup was brought to Poland by winning the mixed doubles, Katarzyna Kava and Jan Zielinski.
They defeated the Swiss combination of Benčić and Jakub Pol in straight sets (6:4, 6:3). This was Benčić's first defeat of the new season.
