The first Grand Slam of the season, the Australian Open, begins on Sunday, and the title is being defended by Janik Siner, who has won in Melbourne for the past two years.
Siner is the favorite for the title this year, and his opponent in the first round will be known after the draw, which is scheduled for Thursday.
"It's great to start the season here. One of the main goals this season is to win the title here again, but it won't be easy to repeat last year," Siner said ahead of the tournament.
Siner defeated Daniil Medvedev in the final two years ago, and Alexander Zverev last year.
"I'm happy with how I've prepared, I've worked great in the break between seasons. You always start a new year with doubts, but that's normal," the Italian pointed out.
The previous season was marked by the rivalry between Siner and Carlos Alcaraz.
"The rivalry with Carlos is great, and since he is first in the world rankings and I am second, it is logical that we only play in the finals," concluded Siner.
