Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev advanced to the second round of the Australian Open, after defeating Dutchman Jesper De Jong 7:5, 6:2, 7:6(2) today.
Medvedev improved his record to 6-0 at the start of the year, having started the season by winning the Brisbane trophy. He converted seven of his 13 break points against De Jong.
The Russian tennis player will play against Frenchman Kantan Allis in the next round, who was better than Chilean Alejandro Tabillo at the start of the tournament with 6:2, 6:2, 7:6.
Seventh seed, Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, lost the match to Portuguese player Nuno Borges. The Portuguese player led 3:6, 6:4, 6:4 at the time of the break.
"I'm fine, but I started to get cramps at the beginning of the third set. It became very difficult, I tried to win the set, but yeah, it wasn't possible today. I don't remember ever getting cramps this early in a tournament, this early in a match," the Canadian said.
