Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka advanced to the second round of the Australian Open today, after defeating Croatian Antonija Ruzic 6:3, 3:6, 6:4.
The match between Osaka and Ruzic, ranked 17th and 65th in the world, lasted two hours and 24 minutes.
Osaka will play against Romanian Sorana Kirstea in the next round of the Australian Open, who was better than German Eva Lis today, also in three sets - 3:6, 6:4, 6:3.
Latvian Jelena Ostapenko also secured a place in the second round of the first Grand Slam tournament of the season, defeating Slovakian Rebeka Sramkova 6:4, 6:4. Her opponent in the next round will be China's Wang Xiu.
