Novak Djokovic had a chance to win the 25th Grand Slam of his career at the Australian Open, but he was stopped in the final, after four sets, by Carlos Alcaraz.
Despite the defeat, Djokovic has a memorable tournament behind him, as he defeated Janik Siner in the semifinals, in an epic match after five sets, and made it clear that he will continue to challenge himself this season.
But, in addition, Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal believes that Novak will not win another Grand Slam tournament. Nadal was at a charity golf tournament in Madrid, and when asked by reporters whether he believes that Djokovic can reach the 25th trophy, he said:
"It's over. I don't think we should analyze tennis just based on who wins. He had a chance in Melbourne, and at this stage of his career, to be honest, he doesn't have many chances left. Still, what he's achieving is absolutely admirable," Nadal said.
The Spaniard stressed that he is enjoying life after retiring from professional tennis.
"I feel calmer, without any strange feelings, because my time here ended exactly as it should have. I extended my career longer than I could have ever imagined. Now I am completely happy to see my colleagues succeed and, in a way, enjoy their success," said Nadal.
