World number one tennis player Arina Sabalenko of Belarus won the title at the Indian Wells tournament, after defeating world number three player Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan in the final tonight after three sets, 3:6, 6:3, 7:6.
The match lasted two hours and 34 minutes.
Rybakina won the first set with a break in the sixth game.
The second set saw three breaks. Rybakina first broke Sabalenka's serve in the first game, but the world number one then fought back with breaks in the second and fourth games to win the second set.
The first break of the third set was won by Sabalenko in the third game, only for Rybakina to respond with her own break in the 10th game.
In the tie-break, Rybakina was the first to reach the match point with a 6:5 lead, but Sabalenka managed to win three consecutive points and win the tie-break 8:6 to win the title at the Indian Wells tournament.
Both players hit double-digit aces in tonight's match, with Rybakina winning 12 points directly from serve and Sabaljenka 10.
This is Sabalenka's 23rd WTA title in her career and her first in Indian Wells, after losing in the finals of that tournament in 2023 and 2025.
