Alcaraz broke the Argentine tennis player five times, while Echeverri won two breaks.
Alkaras, who is defending his Monte Carlo Masters title, will play in the quarterfinals against world number 11 Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan, who defeated world number 13 Jiri Lehečka of the Czech Republic in the round of 16 today - 6:2, 7:5. The match between Bublik and Lehečka lasted an hour and 16 minutes.
Bublik broke the Czech player's serve three times, while Lehečka did not win a single break.
The sixth-ranked tennis player in the world, Australian Alex de Minor, also reached the quarterfinals, defeating the 91st-ranked player in the world, Belgian Alexander Bloks, 7:5, 7:6 in the round of 16 today. The match lasted an hour and 48 minutes.
De Minor broke the Belgian player twice, while Bloks won one break.
De Minor will play in the quarterfinals against the winner of the duel between world number 23 Valentin Vasser from Monaco and world number 74 Hubert Hurkacz from Poland.
