The world's second-ranked tennis player, Carlos Alcaraz, advanced to the round of 16 of the ATP tournament in Barcelona today, after defeating Finnish player Otta Virtanen 6:4, 6:2.
The Spanish player triumphed over the 130th ranked player in the world in an hour and 25 minutes.
A break in the eighth game was enough for Alcaraz to win the first set, while the second half of the game saw four breaks, three of which were made by the Spaniard.
Alcaraz, who was defeated in the final of the tournament in Barcelona last year, will meet Czech player Tomas Mahach (47th on the ATP list) in the next round.
Earlier today, the seventh-ranked Australian tennis player Alex de Minor, who beat Austrian player Sebastian Offner (86th in the world) 7:6 (7), 6:4, as well as the ninth-ranked Italian player Lorenzo Muzzetti, who defeated home player Martin Landalu (101) 7:5, 6:2, advanced to the round of 16 of the tournament in Barcelona.
