The best Montenegrin tennis player, Danka Kovinić, won the singles after returning from a long break due to a back injury.
In the first round of qualifying for the main draw of the Challenger in Rome, the Dane defeated Noemi Basiletti from Italy, the 313th player on the WTA list.
Kovinić won 6:2, 1:6, 6:4 after two and a half hours of play.
This is her first triumph since January 14, 2025, when she defeated Lulu Sun at the start of the Australian Open.
In the 2nd round, she plays against Argentine Julia Riera.
