Djokovic openly: "The end of my career is closer than ever"

After the retirement of first Roger Federer and then Rafael Nadal, there is constant talk about when Novak Djokovic will end his career.

However, the Serbian tennis player is still competing with the best on Tour and trying to reach his 25th Grand Slam.

Still, at 39, it's completely normal for the topic of retirement to be brought up frequently. Novak doesn't shy away from the fact that the moment of retirement is near.

"I still feel like I can compete at the highest level. However, the moment when I will end my career is certainly closer than ever. Andre Agassi once said that he doesn't know when my career will end, but that when it does, everything will go very quickly. I think he's right," Djokovic said during the Fanatics Fest event.

Djokovic believes that there is no ideal way to retire.

"Some want to retire while they're at their peak, others leave when their bodies can't take it anymore, and there are those who realize they can't compete with the best anymore. I'm just trying to enjoy the fact that I can still play."
