Medvedev missed three match points, Nakashima pulled away and advanced to the round of 16 in Cincinnati

American tennis player Brandon Nakashima defeated Russian Daniil Medvedev 2:1 (6:7, 7:6, 6:1) and advanced to the round of 16 of the Cincinnati Masters.

After a major upset, Nakashima managed to eliminate the world's seventh-ranked player.

Nakashima was the first to break in the first set, leading 4:2, but then Medvedev fought back, tied (5:5), and then took the lead in the sets in the tie-break.

There was no break in the second set, but Medvedev missed three match points in the tenth game. Nakashima pulled away and tied the set in the tie-break.

There was no doubt in the third set - Nakashima tied five games and advanced to the next round.

Nakashima will next play against Nuno Borges, who defeated Andrei Rublev 6:3, 6:4.

Canadian tennis player Felix Auger-Aliassime is also in the round of 16, after defeating Argentine Juan Manuel Serundolo 7:5, 6:1. He will play against American Frances Tiafoe, who defeated compatriot Lerner Thien 6:4, 4:6, 6:4.
