The Central European Volleyball Zonal Association (MEVZA), at the request of the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro, approved Montenegrin volleyball clubs to play in the regional MEVZA league!

The MEVZA league is a regional competition in which clubs from Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary compete, and our clubs and junior national teams will have the right to perform from the 2025/2026 season.

Nikola Kažić, president of the Volleyball Association of Montenegro, did not hide his satisfaction after the historic decision for Montenegrin club volleyball.

"I am extremely pleased and proud to be able to inform the Montenegrin volleyball public that from the 2025/2026 season, Montenegrin volleyball clubs in both men's and women's competition will have the opportunity to play in the regional MEVZA league," said the president of our association.

Volleyball clubs from Montenegro will have the opportunity to have an even greater number of quality matches with opponents from the region.

"We managed to realize, I can freely say, a dream that for true volleyball fans has lasted for almost 18 years, since the restoration of independence. I am sure that this achievement will significantly raise the level of Montenegrin volleyball in all segments and that many senior national team players will be born through the clubs that will play in this high-quality league", says Kažić.

In addition to the senior teams, our younger representative selections will also have the chance to gain additional experience.

"Our U18 and U20 selections will have the opportunity to play in the MEVZA competition for younger categories and thus further progress through an additional number of quality matches every year."

The president of our association hopes that state and local institutions will stand by the association and the clubs that will participate in the MEVZA league.

"I hope that this significant undertaking for Montenegrin volleyball will be recognized by the state and local governments and that they will adequately support the Volleyball Association of Montenegro and the clubs that will participate in this financially demanding competition."

Kažić points out that the application and approval process itself was long and extremely demanding, on several occasions in the previous period there was no approval, but the top of MEVZA Zonal Association and the new management of CEV were understanding and recognized the needs of Montenegrin volleyball.

"I want to express my immense gratitude to the president of the MEVZA Zonal Association, Valentina Biflin, and the director of MEVZA and the president of the Croatian Volleyball Federation, Mr. Franet Žanić, for their understanding and unreserved support in this endeavor, which is extremely important for the development of Montenegrin volleyball."

Director of MEVZA and president of the Croatian Volleyball Federation Frane Žanić announced this news to our federation in Porto, as part of the 39th Congress of the World Volleyball Federation, which was attended by president Nikola Kažić and general secretary Ivan Bošković in front of OSCG.

"It is a great honor and pleasure that we have agreed with the president and secretary of the Volleyball Association of Montenegro that Montenegrin clubs join the MEVZA league, I think it is very good, both for Montenegro and for the MEVZA league, because this way we will get more quality. Clubs like Herceg Novi, Budva, Budućnosti carry a weight by themselves and I think they can only bring improvement and development of the MEVZA league for the future. At the moment, I think that the MEVZA league is on a very good path and I would like to thank once again President Kazić and Secretary Bošković for everything they have done and that we have achieved the goal in this year that Montenegrin clubs play in the MEVZA league", said Frane Žanić, director of the MEVZA Zonal Associations.
